Home-made Liquid Calcium
Calcium extract from eggshells—a make-your-own recipe
You gotta watch this fun! ( Length: a few seconds)
So fun to watch it work!
In glass or plastic (not metal) container that holds at least 2 quarts (or it will overflow)
Combine:
5 cups vinegar (clear or apple cider vinegar, but must be 5%)
1 cup crushed-not powdered-eggshells. About 1/4” pieces.
Label this. Watch the fun!
Steep 5 days. Strain.
This is a concentrate.
APPLY in one of these ways to vegetables, fruits, flowers, herbs
DILUTED as a foliar and drench every 2-3 weeks. DILUTE before applying. (Avoid stirring w. a metal spoon)
1 part extract to 7 parts non-chlorinated water, or
5 cups extract to 2 gallons of non-chlorinated water.
2. UN-diluted ingredient in your Fish-the-Crop applications every 10-14 days
3. UN-diluted ingredient in your Boron-Calcium-Fish-Kelp Spray every 10-14 days
Apply both as a foliar & a drench. A watering can works well for sprinkling foliage and soaking the root zone.
STORAGE: in glass jar & plastic lid, and in refrigerator. This will keep for only 2-4 months. It will probably get some mold on surface, which you can remove and you can still use the extract.
Use “spent” eggshells as grit for chickens, or mix into compost pile, or mix into garden soil.
