Chemical vs. Organic Fertilizers

Author Ellen Vande Visse

What are the problems with chemical fertilizers? (Also called salt-based or petroleum-based, or synthesized fertilizers.)

When we use salt fertilizers on crop land & we inadvertently:

  1. scald soil microbes

  2. burn up soil carbon

  3. break up mycorrhizal networks

  4. make crops thirsty, water, and weak

  5. which produce less yield

  6. which invites pests and diseases

  7. which further seduces us into using more of the same fertilizer

  8. which further seduces us into a dangerous dance with poisons
